LinkStarS2A Networking: Now With ACM

In addition to DVB-S2 savings, the LinkStar system now also includes ACM (Adaptive Coding and Modulation). In environments prone to unpredictable and heavy weather, ACM provides up to 46% reduction in satellite bandwidth compared to a non-ACM implementation of DVB-S2. ACM enables the downstream carrier to dynamically change its modulation and coding in response to changing link conditions.  Plus, the LinkStarS2A system also includes ViaSat-exclusive Dynamic Link Adaptation (DLA) to provide operators even more improvements in performance reliability when satellite signal strength degrades for any reason.

LinkStar networking offers several benefits

  • The highest return channel rate on the market
  • Rate-based operation that increases your data throughput
  • Guaranteed information rates for each network location
  • Lower-cost terminals because fewer hardware components are needed and volumes increase as markets expand
  • Both ViaSat-enhanced and DVB-RCS operating modes (software changeable)

LinkStar VSATs can operate using C- or Ku-band transponders, and can operate efficiently in small or large networks, for thin-route or broadband data. A Web-based NMS makes it simple to operate and easy to configure.
